POKOTABI / Not Suspicious
Not Suspicious
Tucked into Asakusa 1-chome, Not Suspicious serves owner-crafted signature shots, citrus-forward cocktails like Yuzu Fresh, and a thoughtful lineup of Japanese whiskies in a casual setting.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Ordered with the ring of a small desk bell, the Suspicious Shot is the bar's signature drink, made to an original recipe by owner Sakura. Far more approachable than its playful name suggests, it serves as the customary starting pour for first-time visitors.
A lighthearted spirit runs through the rest of the cocktail list. Bright citrus leads the Yuzu Fresh, while drinks like the soy-sauce-accented Suspicious Soy Source and the green-tea-infused Adult Matcha Latte introduce unexpected twists. Twists on the classics appear as well, from the sake-based Not Martini, SAKEtini to the Tokyo Negroni.
Japanese whisky is another focus on the back bar. Familiar names like Yamazaki and Hakushu sit alongside bottles from across the country, including Ichiro's Malt Classical Edition, Komagatake, and Amahagan, giving guests room to compare different regional distilling styles.
The walls are filled with handwritten notes and sketches left behind by patrons, adding to the informal, welcoming backdrop. Whether dropping by during a stroll through Asakusa or winding down the night, it offers an easygoing counter at which to enjoy a glass.
